my improvisation style
The year 1998, I thought a voice improv workshop was a good idea to overcome some of my personal issues once and for all. In the end not the completely realistic quick fix I was looking for, but definitely a good start.
I've had other (voice) improv as well as acting & filmmaking training since then, and I would say my rehearsal approach has been particularly influenced by working with Jean-René Toussaint & his 'Voice Work: back to the basics, learn to feel.
What I've learned from my improv teachers and horse therapy coaching: Any impulse, if treated gently, can be a starting point for improvisation. Building on that, I've tried to come up with an approach that would support anyone in their anxiety, while keeping it light. That's what I've been using over the last decade.
It would like it to be inclusive & cultural sensitive.
Inspired by different body awareness practices, together with a long path of personal therapies & mindfulness with horses, I use my own 'how to relax in tension' as a preparation for improv, tailored to your personality.
